The Thread of Continuity
Our journey from a private grief to a public mission. SynapThreads bridges the distance between generations, hospital rooms, and the shared thread of human identity.
The Founder's Journey
From Heartbreak to a Public Thread
My grandmother was the anchor of my family—a woman whose sharp wit and endless library of stories defined my childhood. But as Alzheimer’s began to take hold, I watched the vibrant identification of her spirit slowly unravel. The woman who could recite poetry from memory began to lose the names of her own grandchildren. It was a quiet heartbreak that left me with a crushing sense of helplessness.
I remember sitting in her living room, realizing that while her clinical diagnosis was a 'tangle' of proteins in the brain, her human reality was the loss of connection. I decided that this pain couldn’t stay behind closed doors. SynapThreads was born from the conviction that if we can’t stop the physical tangles yet, we can at least strengthen the threads of story and community that keep a person’s spirit visible.
What started as a way to process my own grief has grown into a collective mission. SynapThreads is now a network of Threads across cities—youth-led chapters dedicated to healing through storytelling. By bridging the gap between generations, we ensure that every individual, regardless of their neurological path, remains an essential part of our shared human narrative.
The SynapThreads Philosophy
Authentic Presence
Stories over Statistics
We prioritize the lived experiences of individuals, believing that human narratives reveal more truth than data points ever could.
Youth-Led
Generational Understanding
We believe every generation deserves to understand the brain, bridging the gap between youth and elders through shared knowledge across city Threads.
Neuro-Advocacy
Listen First
Awareness starts with listening; we lend an ear to those in fog, ensuring every thread of personhood is honored and heard in hospitals and centers.
