The Thread Model

Our city-chapter model, called 'Threads,' empowers students to lead the movement locally. Each chapter hosts its own episodes of storytelling, organizes talks with neurological experts, and coordinates vital outreach visits to pediatric hospitals and senior living communities.

Start a Thread in Your City

Every Thread begins with one person deciding their city needs this movement too. Here's what it means to lead one:

What a Chapter Lead does

- Hosts local podcast episodes and storytelling events in your city
- Organizes expert talks with neuroscientists, doctors, and researchers
- Coordinates outreach visits to pediatric hospitals in your area
- Coordinates outreach visits to senior centers and retirement communities in your area
- Recruits and manages a small local volunteer team.

What SynapThreads provides

- Ready-to-use education materials for hospital and senior center visits
- A starter guide for running your first local event
- Direct support and mentorship from the founding team
- Access to the national podcast platform to feature your Thread's local stories.

Who this is for

Students, young advocates, or anyone with a personal connection to neurological disorders who wants to bring awareness and outreach to their own community. No prior nonprofit experience required, just commitment and a willingness to lead. Most Chapter Leads spend a few hours a month on outreach planning and coordination, with additional time around specific events or hospital/senior center visits.
